Josh Kerr Takes Second Place at The Billabong Pipemasters 2012

This year’s Billabong PipeMasters Competition was one of many surprises and celebrations for all involved. Debuting his new signature fins, The MOONRAKERR, Josh Kerr battled through a potentially paralyzing neck injury to not only take out new Brazilian wonder kid Gabriel Medina but also reigning world champ Kelly Slater in round 4.  After beating countryman Yadin NIchol in the quarter finals Josh once again had to meet Mr Slater in the crucial semi final.  If Joel Parkinson was to win the world title it would all come down to Josh to halt Kelly’s charge to the final. As was the case throughout the whole event Josh was fearless, taking off on and pulling into the most critical waves of the heat.

Josh did defeat Slater, Joel was crowned world Champ and Josh was about to record his most successful result to date on the WCT. In the end Joel Parkinson fittingly won the Pipe Masters but not without a fight from Mr Kerr. By making the final of the prestigious Pipe event, Josh has now proven that he can not only take it to the world’s best but has the ability to go all the way in 2013. A massive congratulations to 3DFINS team rider Josh Kerr for his standout performance at this year’s Billabong Pipemasters.
